Now that Myanmar’s decades of isolation under military rule have ended, the people are loosing their pent-up passion for foreign goods. But the urge to buy is outstripping the country’s ability to sell goods into the export market to pay the price tag. In the first nine months of the current fiscal year, which ends in April, Myanmar, also known as Burma, had a total trade volume of $21 billion. Myanmar exports fishery, agricultural, mining and forest products while importing mostly consumer goods.
