The number of foreign students enrolling in education in New Zealand has fallen for the third consecutive year, dropping below the previous low point of 91,000 in 2008.
This despite the government’s aim to double the value of the industry to the equivalent of $4.3 billion by 2025.
But Education New Zealand says foreign student enrolment in longer courses with higher fees has risen. So the value of the industry has risen despite having fewer students, and the 2025 target remains achievable.
