New Zealand is finding that the lucrative business of attracting foreign students to colleges and universities – and charging them large fees for the privilege – has a downside. Immigration officials are warning the government that New Zealand’s international reputation as a good destination for foreign students is beginning to suffer. The problem is that foreign students are having to find jobs to finance their studies and many are being exploited by local employers. Apparently, many would-be students say when applying for visas that they have the money for their courses and living expenses, but are lying.
