“Brilliant Leader” Kim Jong-un, who recently celebrated his 30th birthday, has moved swiftly to fill the vacancy in government created by his having to order the execution on December 12 of his uncle, Jang Song-taek.

Information seeping out of North Korea should always be regarded with skepticism, but Jang’s killing seems to have stemmed from a dispute over who got the proceeds from exporting prawns to China.
