It seems that the national leader with the world’s worst haircut, North Korea’s Kim Jong-un, may be feeling the pinch from international sanctions sparked by his nuclear weapons program. North Korea’s usual saviour in times of economic trial is China. But Beijing is fed up with the unpredictable 30-something in Pyongyang. A sign that Kim is short of cash is Pyongyang’s demand for a 5% increase in wages for the 53,000 North Koreans employed by South Korean companies in the Kaesong Industrial Complex. It is well known the workers get little or nothing of the salaries, which are taken by Kim’s regime.
