Pakistan is not the most attractive target in Greater Asia for investment, and many Pakistani business people seem to agree. Reports in Pakistan say that about 20% of the companies that have set up shop in the Ajman Free Zone (AFZ) in the United Arab Emirates are Pakistani. That represents about 2,000 Pakistani businesses. Most Pakistani companies in the AFZ are manufacturing goods for export to Europe and elsewhere, though some are operating trade and services businesses. The AFZ allows 100% foreign ownership of businesses operating there, no personal income tax, and the right to repatriate 100% of capital and profits.
