The Philippines’ Department of Justice is recommending that charges be filed against a company that imports garbage from Canada. Targets for charges would be the owner of the company, Chronic Plastics, and two customs brokers. The company received permission to import “plastic scraps” from Canada for reprocessing. But when investigators inspected a 50-container shipment, they found only “stinking garbage.” The imported waste included “heterogeneous plastic materials, including household garbage.”
