The South Korean government is introducing a new program to support working mothers aimed at boosting the country’s low birth rate and to “eliminate the term ‘career-interrupted women.’”
The ministers of finance, welfare, gender equality and labour said in a joint news conference last week they plan to increase the budget to support working mothers by over 26%.
The program will aim to expand the flexible working hours system for mothers and fathers with children under age eight and support infertile couples.
