South Korea has become the first Asian country to export nuclear technology to Europe. South Korean President Park Geun-hye and Dutch King Willem-Alexander last week witnessed the signing of the $23 million agreement in Seoul. A consortium led by the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute beat bids from France, Germany and Russia. The contract is to increase the capacity of a nuclear reactor at the Netherlands’ Delft University of Technology from two to three megawatts. The consortium will also build a research facility to study cold neutrons.
