The minister of justice of the Pacific Ocean island nation of Vanuatu, Ronald Warsai, has called on the International Criminal Court to vigorously prosecute individuals and governments responsible for environmental destruction. Warsai told the 15th session of the Assembly of State Parties to the Rome Statute that his country is suffering the effects of man-made global warming. “We have islands that are being washed away, roads that are being eaten by the sea and even more natural disasters,” he said. “This is nothing less than an ecological, economic and cultural disaster.”
