Thailand's military regime thinks that amid the hubbub of the political upheaval in recent years, it may have been forgotten that the country is a major manufacturing hub in Asia. The International Trade Promotion Department is starting a drive aimed at boosting Thailand's export income by 3.5% from $230 billion last year. The drive is promoting Thailand as the “Kitchen to the World,” noting that Thai-made electric appliances account for 10.6% of exports, while fish and agricultural products make up 15.7% of exports. The government is aiming its promotion campaign at Asia, Africa and Latin America.
