The Philippines is likely to achieve only 60% of its 35 Millenium Development Goals by the 2015 deadline, says the United Nations Development Programme. The report last week said the Philippines will probably achieve 90% of its goals in improving school participation, empowering women, reducing infant mortality, combating malaria and tuberculosis and improving access to water and sanitary toilet facilities. But there is only a 50% likelihood of hitting the target for reduced maternal mortality, better access to reproductive health, fighting the spread of HIV-AIDS and increasing the number of students who finish high school.
