The Vietnamese government is feeling ill equipped as the creation of the Southeast Asian Economic Community approaches next year.
Dr. Nguyen Dac Hung, head of the Central Committee for Propaganda and Education Department for Vocational Training, says the country doesn’t have the skilled workforce it will need to compete in the 10-country association modelled on the European Union.
There is currently high unemployment among university graduates and not enough young people with vocational training.
