With China pricing itself out of the manufacturing market and other low-cost Asian countries still unready to take full advantage, Vietnam has become a major target for foreign investment and venue for business. In the eight years since Vietnam joined the World Trade Organization, it has become the top exporter to the United States among the 10 countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Among ASEAN exporters to the U.S., Vietnam has 20% of the market, and this is expected to rise to 30% by 2020. U.S.-Vietnam trade hit $36 billion last year, a 24% increase over 2013.
