Beem Credit Union is backing BIV’s expanded coverage of small businesses with a magazine launch, an online hub and deeper reporting across B.C.

Business in Vancouver and Beem Credit Union are excited to announce an inaugural impact-driven partnership to support independent journalism on British Columbia’s small business sector.

This collaboration establishes a dedicated space for original reporting on issues and opportunities that matter most to small business owners across the province. In print, online and in person, BIV will expand its award-winning business news coverage to include new profiles and storytelling, in-depth examinations of top issues, and practical insights on business areas most-relevant to small business leaders.

Underwritten by Beem as part of a year-long initiative, the partnership includes the launch of a new Small Business magazine, regular small business coverage in BIV’s weekly print newspaper and a one-stop resource for small business content at BIV.com.

“Small businesses shape our communities — not just through jobs and services, but through the connections they foster, and innovative ideas they spark. We’re proud to support journalism that highlights their impact and helps them thrive,” said Brian Harris, CEO of Beem Credit Union.

In the weeks ahead, BIV readers can expect more coverage of small business issues in print every other week, and online under a dedicated small business channel, supported by Beem. All journalism and content will be independently produced by BIV’s editorial team. A new magazine and event will be launched in October, timed around B.C. Small Business Week.

“This partnership allows our team to do more of what they do best — unmatched journalism on issues that matter most to B.C. business leaders,” said Hayley Woodin Hastings, editor-in-chief of BIV.

Beem is BIV’s inaugural impact partner. Impact partnerships make independent BIV reporting on editorially determined topics possible through financial support.
