Alleged Wal-Mart ceiling collapse triggers suit

Vancouver writer Susan Conners has filed suit against Wal-Mart Canada, alleging that she suffered injuries from a ceiling collapse at a Wal-Mart store.

The suit was filed in BC Supreme Court October 11.

It alleges that on December 12, 2010, the plaintiff walked on a flat "out of order" escalator at Wal-Mart when the ceiling collapsed on her head, causing injuries.

The suit alleges that Conners' injuries including neck injury, headaches; abrasions, bruises and strains; chemical burns; aggravation of gout; and chronic clinical depression due to pain.

Conners is suing for damages, loss of earning capacity, loss of housekeeping capacity and health-care services.

Besides Wal-Mart, the suit names as defendants: Ivanhoe Cambridge Inc. and 4239431 Canada Inc., also known as Guilford Town Centre Limited Partnership.
