The British Columbia Securities Commission has issued a notice of hearing alleging that a B.C. man lied to commission staff about his connection to a corporation that traded securities in a company of which he was a director.
Rudolph Walter Brenner lied to the BCSC to conceal his connection to an offshore securities trading account held by Muscatine Financial Corp, the commission alleges. This trading account is controlled by the Brenner Family Trust, of which Brenner is a beneficiary.
In September 2011, Brenner allegedly used the Muscatine account to sell shares of Hellix Ventures Inc., a company of which he was a director at that time.
The BCSC sent an order March 21, 2012, requiring Brenner to identify all securities trading accounts over which he had direction, control or interest. Brenner responded March 27, 2012, listing Canadian accounts but failing to mention the Muscatine account, the BCSC said.
The commission alleges that Brenner was asked several times to confirm whether the list he provided was complete and whether he had any connection to the Muscatine account, and that Brenner replied that he did not have control of the account.
A hearing has been set for September 3, 2013.
None of the allegations has been proven.
