Bud Smith, former attorney general and Social Credit MLA for Kamloops, was appointed board chair of the BC Lottery Corp. (BCLC) on July 25.
The announcement was made by Finance Minister Mike de Jong in Victoria.
Smith, who's served as a director on the BCLC board since 2012, will replace John McLernan. McLernan has been chairman since 2005.
Smith was MLA for Kamloops from 1986 to 1991. During his tenure, he served as minister of regional economic development and principal secretary to the premier.
Smith has also been on the boards of Canada Post, Prince Rupert Port Authority, Ridley Terminals and BC Development Corp.
