The woman whose job for the past four years has been dedicated largely to making Vancouver a more attractive place to live and work is leaving for Calgary.
Lee Malleau, CEO of the City of Vancouver Economic Development Commission, has announced she is leaving to take a position with Calgary Economic Development.
"I want to thank Lee for her service to Vancouver. I have very much appreciated working with her and look forward to her future success," said Mayor Gregor Robertson, who is also VEC chairman.
"She helped lead our city's economic development agency through some tough economic times with great results."
During the 2010 Winter Games, Malleau led the city's Olympic business program, which generated $350 million in economic benefits and helped create what the city calls "Vancouver's most comprehensive economic action strategy ever produced."
Robertson said Joan Elangovan, VEC's director of finance and operations, will step in as acting CEO.
