The Certified General Accountants Association of Canada (CGA-Canada) announced the launch of its 2013 Tax Portal yesterday, intended to be a "one-stop resource" for personal tax information.
CGA-Canada said the portal is a source for both the public and business professionals to find out about any tax-filing milestones and keep up to date on any CRA news. It provides access to the CGA's 2012-13 Personal Tax Planning book, which contains key filing deadlines, links to news articles and advice.
"The completion of personal income taxes can be a challenging endeavor," said CGA-Canada president and CEO Anthony Ariganello, who explained that the new portal is intended to make taxes less daunting for everyone and provide guidance for those who need it.
The portal provides a link to the Need an Accountant website, a national registry of more than 2,250 CGA firms. The registry is also available as an app for smartphones.
Access to both the Tax Portal and the Need an Accountant website are free. The 2012-13 Personal Tax Planning book is available both as a paper book and an ebook, and is $7.95 for CGA students and members, and $12.95 for non-members.
