A computer security company is suing the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) for allegedly breaching a contract to supply computer locks to B.C. hospitals.
BC Computer Security Corporation claims that from 2002 to 2011 it supplied cable locks for personal computers in hospitals in B.C. The company alleges that in 2010 and 2011 PHSA contracted BC Computer Security to develop and supply PHSA with a new customized cable lock for hospital computers.
Under the terms of the contract, says BC Computer Security, the company would arrange and pay for:
- the manufacture of the locks in China;
- transportation of the locks to Canada; and
- storage of the locks in a warehouse.
BC Computer Security alleges that it understood that PHSA would also adopt the locks as a provincial standard.
The company alleges PHSA breached the contract by:
- refusing to accept delivery of the locks;
- failing to establish the locks as a provincial standard; and
- terminating the contract without notice.
BC Computer Security is claiming damages for breach of contract.
As of press time, no response has been filed.
None of the allegations has been proven in court.
