Premier Christy Clark has residential property in Vancouver and trust property on Galiano Island from an inheritance, according to her annual public disclosure statement.
The statements, required under the Members' Conflict of Interest Act, list assets, liabilities and financial interests, were filed with the Clerk of the Legislature on Nov. 30.
Clark has an RBC Homeline line of credit and her RRSP investments and securities and other investments in public corporations are listed as broker-directed and administered by Canaccord Financial, the investment house founded by BC Liberal bagman Peter Brown.
"Prior advice and contents of portfolio not disclosed to member," says the Premier's form.
Clark's sources of income are her MLA and Premier's salary and allowance and her BC Liberal Party leader's allowance. No amounts were disclosed.
Opposition leader Adrian Dix has unspecified residential property in Vancouver as well as Standard Life and Bank of Montreal RRSPs. His wife, Renee Saklikar, has a mortgage on a New Westminster property through TD Canada Trust. Dix lists his NDP leadership campaign as a loan receivable.
Finance Minister Mike de Jong claims rental income from six Abbotsford properties (five of which are mortgaged) and a family hobby farm that sells livestock, hay and produce. His only private business interest is in the inactive MSA Fundamental Hockey School Ltd.
Jobs, Tourism, Innovation and Labour Minister Pat Bell and his wife Brenda each own 26% of Family Fast Foods, the operator of two Prince George Wendy's Restaurants, and 20% each of 422073 BC Ltd., which owns the Wendy's real estate.
Liberal caucus chair Gordon Hogg (Surrey-White Rock) has a 5% interest in two Boston Pizza in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and holds recreational real estate in Maui. Liberal backbencher Joan McIntyre (West Vancouver-Sea-to-Sky) reported 50% interest in an apartment in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
NDP transportation critic Harry Bains (Surrey-Newton) has investment property at #223-4369 Main St. in Whistler and 1.25 acres of ancestral land in Punjab, India. NDP's Harry Lali (Fraser-Nicola) has fractional holdings in India: 1/28 of a house in Village Nangal-Shama and 1/4 of a house in Village Miranpur.
Independent Abbotsford South MLA John van Dongen has a four-page disclosure showing 100% ownership of Ridgedale Farms, two properties in Abbotsford and nine mortgages receivable.
Harry Bloy (Burnaby-Lougheed), Clark's only leadership supporter in the Liberal caucus, reported the most gifts for the third straight year. Scotiabank gave him two Grey Cup tickets ($570) and four Vancouver Canucks tickets ($740). He also received eight Canucks tickets and a Christmas party valued at $2,000 from Pacific Western Brewing.
Advanced Education Minister John Yap got two tickets to the Richmond Hospital Foundation Starlight Gala ($700), a recognition plaque ($150) and traditional Arabian formal men's cloak ($450) from the Saudi Arabian Students' Club of UBC, a box of traditional Chinese moon cakes ($40) and an Apple iPod Touch ($280) from the Canadian Fujianese Friendship Association.
Children and Family Development Minister Stephanie Cadieux reported receiving a pair of tickets worth $700 to her party's biggest fundraiser of the year, the annual Premier's Dinner on June 5, courtesy of pharmaceutical company Hoffman-La Roche. Cadieux was the only Liberal to report such a gift.
