The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services will be conducting consultations across the province on the 2014 budget, the provincial government announced September 6.
Consultations will take the forms of public hearings in communities around the province, videoconferencing sessions, an online survey and a call for written submissions.
“The committee would like to hear British Columbians’ priorities and financial concerns for next year’s budget,” said Dan Ashton, chair of the all-party committee.
The committee’s deputy chair Mike Farnworth said, “We encourage any individuals and organizations to attend a public hearing or to make a submission.”
The Budget 2014 Consultation Paper will be released by the provincial finance ministry September, and registrations for the public hearings will begin that day at 11 a.m.
The submission deadline is October 16, 2013, and the committee will release a report November 15, 2013.
