Surrey resident Deborah Kobelt has filed suit against her neighbours and four subcontractors who were working on improvements to the neighbours' property between July and September of this year.

The November 21 suit names Gurdial Singh Rai, Parminder Singh Hundal, G A G Construction Ltd., S&A Excavating Ltd., Westcoast Framing Ltd. and Norm Pilon dba Rise and Run Manufacturing Ltd.

The suit alleges that the defendants caused damage to Kobelt's property while working on the improvements to her neighbours' home. The plaintiff also claims that access to her home was blocked by construction vehicles and ladders, and that the defendants trespassed on her property and both nailed plastic to the side of her house and dug a hole in her yard.

The plaintiff states that she hired engineers to examine the damage the defendants had caused to her property, who found exposed footings and drainage issues due to the defendants' work.

The suit also states that she received an undated and unaddressed letter in her mailbox in November that contained threatening language and several expletives. The unsigned letter referred to an incident where the plaintiff honked her horn to get the workers to move, saying that if she did something like that again, "maybe your garage will go up in flames, or we'll pour poison at night all over your plants and grass." The suit does not allege that this letter was written by the defendants.

The plaintiff is seeking compensation for the damage to her property.

As of press time, no response had been filed.

None of these allegations has been proven in court.
