Uniglobe suit alleges former employee leaked information
Uniglobe Geo Travel is suing former employee Robert Spencer for allegedly leaking confidential information to a competitor and keeping Uniglobe property after he was dismissed.
The travel agency alleges that it provided Spencer with confidential information related to sales, revenue and client names and made sure he was aware that he was being provided with the information in confidence.
Spencer was also provided with information related to future plans for Uniglobe to merge with another company, future strategy and details about the proposed merger partner, Uniglobe alleges.
Spencer then, Uniglobe alleges, disclosed the information to a direct competitor in March.
In April, Uniglobe terminated Spencer’s employment with what it alleges was just cause and demanded the return of all Uniglobe property that Spencer possessed.
That property included an office telephone, computer, reports, customer lists and other materials, Uniglobe alleges. Spencer also allegedly rang up a $3,860 bill on a Uniglobe credit card for items including training courses and cell phone use.
“To date, however, Spencer has failed, neglected or refused to return the partnership property to Uniglobe or to reimburse Uniglobe for the unauthorized charges,” the company notes in its statement of civil claim filed August 22.
Uniglobe seeks a declaration that Uniglobe is the owner of the disputed property and an order for Spencer to return it. The company also seeks damages.
None of the allegations has been proven in court.
