Mayor Gregor Robertson is in New York today (October 7) after taking part in an urban development summit over the weekend.

CityLab, hosted by The Atlantic, the Aspen Institute and Bloomberg Philanthropies, brought together 300 city leaders from around the world to discuss urban issues and development.

"Representing Vancouver at CityLab is a great opportunity to both learn from other cities and share the lessons about Vancouver's successes," said Robertson, the only Canadian mayor at the conference.

"From economic development to affordable housing to rapid transit, CityLab will provide a unique forum for discussing the biggest challenges we face in Vancouver and cities around the world."

Robertson was invited by New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg. Speakers at the summit included former United States Vice-President Al Gore and New York City Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan.

The mayor is attending a Mayors' Innovation studio October 7 hosted by Mayor Bloomberg. The event is focused on civic innovation strategies.
