Practical advice and insider information about investing in real estate, retirement savings, mortgage finance options and other areas will be discussed at the Investment Alternatives Conference in Vancouver February 15, hosted by Tina Mak International Real Estate Investment.
Speakers at the full-day event will discuss the current economic climate and developments in Asia and how they affect Canada and the United States. They will offer practical advice on wealth management, cross-border taxation and provide specific investment strategies
Tina Mak, a realtor with Coldwell Banker Westburn and the president of the Asian Real Estate Association of America, Vancouver chapter, said she developed the idea for this conference because she felt there was a lot of confusion in the marketplace regarding investments in general, particularly in real estate.
"Canadians have been the number one foreign investors in the United States," Mak said. "A lot of Canadians go down there to buy real estate, including snowbirds or Asians looking for investments.
"Sometimes there are too many mixed messages. One is positive, one is negative, so people get confused."
The conference promises to "cut through the jargon, the noise and non-stop attempts to sell us products that don't make sense to us."
Speakers at the conference will include:
- Jock Finlayson, executive vice-president and chief policy officer, Business Council of British Columbia;
