Gregor Robertson’s Vision Vancouver party released its report outlining all 2014 municipal election campaign contributors November 6 – four days after it had pledged to do so.
The total donations as of October 31 were $2,251.348.17. This is an increase of 1.5% compared with last year’s total donations for the entire campaign of $2,218,040.20.
Of 2014’s total, 64% of donations were from corporate sources ($1,437,880), 22% from individuals ($492,588.17) and 14% labour ($320,880).
The biggest contributor was the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), with a total donation of $226,000. This was the total contribution from CUPE BC division, CUPE Local 1004 and CUPE Local 15.
The second-largest donation was from David Aisenstat CEO and former majority owner of The Keg Restaurants Ltd. with a contribution of $100,000. This is four times greater than Aisenstat’s 2011 donation of $25,000.
The biggest corporate contributors were Magnum Projects, Holborn Holdings and The Charles F. White Corporation (see chart).
Significant contributions from individuals came from Cypress Capital Management’s Dean Alexander ($39,200), Alterra Power executive chairman Ross Beaty ($30,000), Lululemon founder Chip Wilson ($37,500)
Gregor Robertson himself donated $640 of his own money to the campaign.
The NPA had challenged Vision to release the list by November 7, and Vision had responded by saying they would have the information ready for the public by November 2.
The NPA said it will be releasing its campaign contributions list by 10:45 a.m. on November 7.
