The Art Institute of Vancouver has been named the eighth-best best undergrad school for game design, beating out the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on rankings released by The Princeton Review.
This is the fifth-straight year the Art Institute has made the survey. Vancouver Film School ranked No. 19 on the list, while MIT placed tenth.
Charles Restivo, president of the Art Institutes system of schools, said in a March 31 statement he was honoured the school was included on the list.
"Vancouver is considered to be the production capital of the game industry in North America, and our programs in game art and design, game programming, and visual and game programming prepare students for careers in the exciting and growing gaming industry."
The Princeton Review, a post-secondary admissions and test preparations service company, surveyed 150 administrators at institutions from across the globe and examined factors such as faculty credentials and technologies schools use.
"For students considering careers in video game design, these are the 'cream of the crop' institutions to attend," Robert Franek, The Princeton Review's publisher, said in a statement.
"Collectively, they have graduated many of the field's top developers, artists, designers, and industry professionals."
