The slopes at Whistler Blackcomb are set to open for business earlier than planned this season.
“Thanks to cool temperatures, impressive snowmaking and natural snowfall, Whistler Mountain will open five days early on Saturday, November 17,” its website boasts.
The first chairlift is scheduled to begin operation at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow.
According to Environment Canada, the mountain should see another two to six centimetres of snow by Saturday.
Blackcomb is expected to open to the public November 22.
This is not the only option for snow lovers this weekend. Sun Peaks Resort has also announced that it will open to the public for the season this weekend.
The resort, near Kamloops, will open lifts for guests starting at 9 a.m tomorrow.
Prior to Whistler Blackcomb’s earlier-than-planned opening announcement, Sun Peaks was touting itself as the first destination resort set to open for the 2012-13 season.
Kelowna’s Big White Ski Resort has a planned opening date of December 1.
