Business in Vancouver’s editorial team last week won the Jack Webster Award for Business, Industry and Economics journalism for the newspaper’s coverage of the 2013 B.C. election.
Richard Chu, Jen St. Denis, Jenny MacPhee (formerly Wagler), Nelson Bennett, Glen Korstrom, Emma Crawford, Timothy Renshaw and Joannah Connolly were granted the award for their comprehensive, business-focused provincial election coverage over the course of more than three months between February and May.
The trophy was presented to the team at the October 30 gala awards dinner held in the Westin Bayshore’s grand ballroom, organized by the Jack Webster Foundation and emceed by CTV news anchors Mike Killeen and Tamara Taggart.
The Jack Webster journalism competition is one of the biggest in Canada.
The other finalists in the category were a CKNW team that included BIV regular columnist and freelance writer Bob Mackin, for its coverage of Port Metro Vancouver, and Daniel Wood’s article in the Georgia Straight on Delta farmland under threat. •
