Three B.C. film unions have ratified a master agreement that covers an additional three years, the BC Council of Film Unions (BCCFU) has announced.
The BCCFU represent more than 10,000 employees who work behind the scenes in B.C.’s film and television industry.
The three unions involved are:
- International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 891
- Teamsters Local Union No. 155; and
- IATSE Local 669.
The agreement was signed with negotiating producers from the Canadian Media Production Association-BC Producers’ Branch and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, Canadian Affiliates.
The agreement, which provides a 2% annual increase, is effective April 1, 2012, to March 2015, and is expected to stimulate continued growth in B.C.’s film industry. This is the seventh master agreement negotiated since the formation of the BCCFU in 1996.
“These agreements have provided a stable labour relations framework essential to the continued growth of the motion picture industry in B.C.,” the BCCFU stated in a press release.
