In a bid to become master of its domain in the world of video-on-demand, Bell Media has landed a deal for the exclusive streaming rights to the entire series of what is arguably the most popular TV show in history.

The telecom giant will offer all 180 episodes of Seinfeld, which spanned nine-seasons, through its new Project Latte video service, which was announced last month.

Bell also announced it will be adding several other classic sitcoms to its catalogue, including Cheers, Frasier and Everybody Loves Raymond, as well as contemporary programs such as The Big Bang Theory.

It has also struck a deal with the BBC and will be adding some Britcoms to its lineup, including Absolutely Fabulous and Fawlty Towers.

The deal positions Bell to compete with rivals Rogers Communications (TSX:RCI.B) and Shaw Communications (TSX:SJR:B), who announced in August that they were joining forces to create a streaming service called Shomi, in a bid to compete with Netflix Canada.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
