Five producers from across Canada have been selected to participate in the sixth annual CFC GO WEST Project Lab.

Presented by the Whistler Film Festival in association with Telefilm Canada, the lab is an intense four-day business and marketplace immersion experience held June 24 to 27 in Whistler.

Open to Canadian producers, the project lab is intended to advance a producer's dramatic feature project, facilitate relationships and collaboration on and investment in film projects that have U.S. and international appeal.

Launched in 2007, CFC GO WEST Project Lab has attracted many of North America's leading sales, packaging and distribution executives. Each producer receives project feedback from U.S./International marketplace experts to make their project more appealing to investors.

John Dippong, director of industry promotion in Telefilm's Western region office, said "Telefilm Canada is proud to be a partner of the CFC GO WEST Project Lab, which remains one of the best final stage development tools available to producers today.

"The lab provides an unparalleled opportunity for producers to get rigorous market feedback from seasoned veterans at the most critically important stage of their project's development. It's an immersive learning and relationship-building experience that just isn't replicated anywhere else."

For 2012, the five producers and projects are:

  • Paul Scherzer, Six Island Productions (Ontario), In Deep Water;
  • Paul-E. Audet, Cirrus Communications (Quebec), Boost;
  • Ziad Touma, Couzin Films (Quebec), Wall of Sound;
  • Wendy Ord, Mountain Lake Films (B.C.), Rock Bottom; and
  • Mary Anne Waterhouse, Quadrant Motion Pictures (B.C.), The Steps.
