On October 19, many Canadians were filled with excitement and pride as a surprise win led to renewed hope for the future—and that was just the baseball. There was also an election that night, which was also kind of a big deal.

The new face of Canada is Justin Trudeau, son of former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, and a sort of Trudeaumania-for-the-new-millennium is taking hold of the country.

This isn’t going unnoticed across other parts of the globe, but a lot of the attention centres not around his politics but rather his appearance.

Even publications that normally avoid political stories like the plague are getting involved in the conversation.

Canadians can’t seem to decide whether or not to be proud of this attention, and some have taken the firm stance that it is not okay to objectify the man.

October 19 was also a big day for sci-fi fans as the new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released to much fanfare, although some die-hard devotees are saying the preview just doesn’t evoke the same wonder the originals did when they were kids…which begs the question: what really does?

It was, however, a fun week for movie fans in general as October 21, 2015 marked the day Marty McFly and Doc Brown travelled into the future to find flying cars, hoverboards and peace in the Middle East. Jimmy Kimmel had the actors on his show to commemorate the date, and President Obama also got in on the fun.

In the spirit of things and in what some took as a sign that things in the Canadian government are already starting to lighten up, Health Canada issued a recall on a certain vehicle with a defective flux capacitor. Great Scott!
