The BC Lottery Corp. (BCLC) is awarding another contract to the Burnaby provider of electronic bingo at community gaming centres without going to market.
The Crown gambling corporation announced December 14 the direct award with Kodiak Industrial Systems, which does business as Kodiak Entertainment. The document said after BCLC solicited quotes for an electronic bingo system in 2009, it awarded a contract to Kodiak in 2010. The land-based server technology is deployed at 27 community gaming centres that have a total of 4,000 player terminals. BCLC has paid Kodiak $4.035 million since 2011, including $933,293 last year.
“After careful research and consideration, it is believed that Kodiak offers a unique solution and value proposition and is capable of meeting the specific requirements for this engagement,” said the notice of intent, published on B.C. Bid, with a December 29 deadline for competitors to contest the arrangement. “Their demonstrated understanding, qualifications, expertise, experience and customized EBS enable them to provide a customized gaming solution and advisory services in the timeframes required.”
BCLC reported $75.3 million in revenue from 2014-15 bingo operations, better than the $61.9 million budget.
The contract, worth $110,000 for software licences and $720,000 for support and maintenance per year, would last from January 2016 to December 2017. It has an option for a further three years to December 2020.
