Vancouver-based market research company Vision Critical announced January 22 that it has expanded by acquiring Massachusetts-based technology company DiscoverText for an undisclosed amount.
In recent years, Vision Critical has morphed from its surveying and market research roots to become a company that aims to help clients gain and analyze insight from customers in increasingly complicated ways.
It ranks as the 91st largest private company in B.C., according to Business in Vancouver’s most recent list.
The acquisition of DiscoverText dovetails with this evolution because DiscoverText’s focus is cloud-based text analytics.
The transaction will help Vision Critical automate the organization and classification of hundreds of thousands of text records more efficiently and accurately. Vision Critical’s clients will consequently be able to make better and faster decisions, the company said.
“As we continue to marry qualitative and quantitative analysis, this new technology combines a machine learning, language agnostic, text analytics solution with our insight communities, said Scott Miller, CEO of Vision Critical. “This is a game-changer for us, for our partners and for our clients.”
