The Vancouver Whitecaps announced April 15 that they have snagged an airline sponsor that will make attending games more affordable for fans across southwestern B.C.
Harbour Air Seaplanes will start providing a 20% discount to all passengers who can present a Whitecaps ticket for the date of their travel.
The airline will also provide cash to the Major League Soccer team and one of Harbour Air's planes will also be repainted to include a Whitecaps logo on the plane's tail, the airline's vice-president of sales and marketing Meredith Moll told Business in Vancouver April 15.
"We have over 50 aircraft and we'd like to have them all branded with the Whitecaps logo but for now we're starting with one," she told Business in Vancouver April 15.
The lone Whitecaps-branded plane will alternately travel on each of Harbour Air's eight destinations on Vancouver Island, the South Coast and Whistler.
"We have a large and passionate fan base on Vancouver Island, including the Georgia Strait Supporters, who will really benefit from our new partnership with Harbour Air," said Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi. "Whitecaps FC are B.C.'s team and we're excited that this partnership will help our fans get to our home matches safely and conveniently while enjoying a fabulous view."
