Vancouver’s YYoga will open a new 20,000-square-foot studio that will feature hot yoga rooms, a fitness centre, a 20-metre outdoor pool, hot tub and outdoor terrace.
The new YYoga studio will be located on the third floor of Telus Garden's 53-storey residential tower at the corner of Robson and Richards when it opens in 2014.
Telus Garden residents and Telus (TSX:T) employees will get special deals on YYoga memberships. The general public will have access to the centre with regular memberships.
"We are incredibly excited about this initiative, and what it means for YYoga," YYoga CEO Terry McBride said in a press release. “The Telus Garden YYoga partnership will encourage new ways to cultivate community and the perfect work-life balance, which matches our promise to provide an environment centered on wellness wellness and quality and rooted in community.”
Founded in 2007, YYoga operates seven centres throughout B.C. In February, the company announced a $9 million capital raise led by institutional investors Fiore Capital Corp. and Beedie Capital Partners to expand both in Vancouver and Toronto.
As detailed in a Business in Vancouver story in January, Vancouver has become something of a yoga hotspot.
Yoga apparel maker Lululemon Athletica Inc. is headquartered in Vancouver, and the first Deepak Chopra yoga studio opened in Vancouver earlier this year.
