A climate rally will block off traffic in Vancouver this week.

On Friday (Sept. 15), protesters will march through Downtown Vancouver calling for stronger action on climate change.

The climate strike is part of the Global Fight to End Fossil Fuels and Fridays for the Future worldwide protest between Sept. 15 and Sept. 17.

In Vancouver, the rally will begin outside of Vancouver City Hall at 1 p.m. then march across the Cambie Street Bridge and along Smithe Street to the Vancouver Art Gallery where the event will conclude at 4 p.m.

Vancouver's Kendall Gender, Ndidi Cascade, and Aaron Ross of the Boom Booms will be performing along the route. At the art gallery there will be speeches from journalist Brandi Morin, activist Janelle Lapointe, and many more.

"Anyone concerned about the alarming rate of climate change and the inadequate response from government and industry are invited to attend," reads a news release. "The rally will call on governments to uphold and centre Indigenous sovereignty as part of necessary decolonization processes."
