North-Vancouver based A&W Food Services of Canada has opened its 800th restaurant, the fast-food chain announced December 2.
The new location is in Montreal near McGill University and comes as part of an aggressive growth strategy that the company hopes will see a total of 1,000 restaurants across the company by 2020.
"Several years ago, we committed to strategically accelerate our pace of expansion," said A&W president and CEO Paul Hollands.
"With 33 new restaurants opened across the country to date in 2013, and over 70 openings in the past two years, we are proud of delivering on that strategy."
Twenty-two of the 33 new restaurants are located in Ontario and Quebec. The company hopes to grow at a rate of around 4.5% over the next few years.
A&W ranked at number 64 on Business in Vancouver's list of the top 100 most profitable companies in the province in 2013.
