Vancouver's Executive Group has begun construction on a 163-suite boutique luxury hotel in New York, the company announced September 4.
The Executive Hotel Le Soleil New York will be similar to the company's Le Soleil hotel on Hornby Street in downtown Vancouver.
"The luxurious Executive Hotel Le Soleil New York should prove to be popular amongst our large corporate and leisure travel base," said Executive Group president Salim Sayani.
"We purchased this site approximately two years ago and given the current strength of the Canadian dollar and the strengthening U.S. economy, in particular the New York market, we felt it was the right time to build.
"This prime Midtown Manhattan location should be a complementary fit for our existing U.S. boutique hotel locations, being San Francisco and Seattle."
The scheduled completion is in late 2014. The new facility will be the chain's 17th location.
