Travel + Leisure magazine has awarded Vancouver's Fairmont Pacific Rim the title of top city hotel in Canada as part of its annual World's Best Awards.
Less than half a point separated the Fairmont Pacific Rim from the second-place winner, Toronto's Ritz Carlton. The Fairmont Pacific Rim finished with a final score of 92.36, the Ritz Carlton finished with 92.
The top 10 included two other Vancouver Fairmont properties – the Fairmont Waterfront and the Fairmont Vancouver Airport.
Other local hotels cracking the top 10 were the Shangri-La Hotel and the Wedgewood Hotel & Spa.
The top overall hotel in Canada was Post Hotel & Spa in Lake Louise, which was in the resort category, with a score of 94.93.
Results were based on reader responses. Respondents were asked to rate both facilities and service options with a ranking of one through five. Final scores were an average of all the responses received.
Voting was done between December 1, 2012, and April 1, 2013. The magazine also ranked other tourist destinations and categories such as cities, islands and cruise ships.
The Fairmont Pacific Rim is located at 1038 Canada Place.
