The Tourism Vancouver-produced video that won a silver medal at the ITB Berlin International Tourism Video Competition March 8 has since been viewed nearly 170,000 times in 167 countries worldwide, Tourism Vancouver spokeswoman Sonu Purhar told Business in Vancouver Friday.

It’s You… Vancouver is told in music video format as it follows Vancouver band Watasun to various locations such as Stanley Park, Granville Island and the Vancouver Aquarium. The band also travels on ferries in False Creek and the roller coaster at the Pacific National Exhibition. Mountaintop scenes show plenty of snow, and scenes of the band in the city are warm and sunny.

The Vancouver video tied with a video from Vukovar, Croatia, for its second place in the city category.

“It’s an international competition, so the fact that Vancouver placed so highly is pretty amazing,” Purhar said.

Western Canadian videos fared extremely well at the festival, with Travel Alberta’s video Remember to Breathe winning the coveted overall Diamond Award.
