Steamworks Brewing Co. owner Eli Gershkovitch announced August 27 that his 17-year-old brewing pub is going to start bottling its beer, which until now has only been available on tap at its Water Street location.

The news comes months after Gershkovitch scooped longtime Granville Island Brewing general manager Walter Cosman to be his company’s president.

Small “craft” brewers have been making a dent in overall beer sales in B.C.

The latest British Columbia Liquor Distribution Branch quarterly report notes that brewers whose annual packaged production is less than 16 million litres saw a 10.08% sales jump in the three months that ended June 30. During those same three months, brewers whose annual packaged production exceeded 16 million litres saw a sales drop of 8.72%.
