Tucked away on a forested mountainside about five minutes’ drive from Whistler Village is your key to relaxation and tranquility, Scandinave Spa.
The resort’s main feature, the Scandinavian baths, are outdoors and divided into hot, cold and above-water relaxation areas that guests are meant to cycle through three times over the course of a few hours to get the recuperative benefits of hydrotherapy.
Warm options include an invigorating Eucalyptus steam room, wood burning Finnish sauna, hot baths and a thermal waterfall. Cold options for a 30-second rinse include cold baths, Nordic waterfalls and cold showers.
Scattered throughout the spa are both indoor and outdoor spaces for quiet, out-of-water reflection, and with Scandinave’s no-talking policy, the heated sitting rooms are the most heavenly places to take a nap.
Because of the spa’s rule of silence, strictly enforced by signs as well as a patrolling shusher, this retreat is ideally suited to busy city slickers in need of some ‘me’ time, but perhaps not recommended for exuberant groups visiting as part of a stag or stagette.
