The BC Human Resources Management Association (BC HRMA) will open Western Canada's largest human resources trade show to the public on both days of its annual conference, May 1 and 2 at Vancouver Convention Centre West.

Admission to the trade show is free.

The conference and trade show are aimed at business leaders with or without human resources staff, and aims to help them develop their employees, their companies and their own management skills.

In addition to more than 90 exhibitors, the tradeshow's free Speaker's Corner will host more than 20 short talks over the two-day conference.

Some of the seminar topics include:

  • Turning "Dim Bulb" Employees Into "Bright Lights";
  • The Mechanics of Making Workplace-Related Mental Disorder Claims to WorkSafe BC;
  • Juggling Aging Parents, Chronic Illness and/or Disabilities with Career Demands;
  • Workplace Wellness, and How to Achieve It; and
  • How To Train Employees On What They Didn't Learn In School.

Christian Codrington, senior manager of professional practice at BC HRMA, said, "We're opening the tradeshow portion of our conference to the public to share the latest HR trends and information with those who might not have regular access to this kind of information.

"Human capital is expensive, and BC HRMA helps our member organizations and companies all over BC and Yukon provide the environment and information they need to ensure best results for them and their employees. We'd like to see that approach to HR management spread even further in the business community."
