Ji Yoon has been appointed chief financial officer and information technology lead at On Side Restoration, the emergency restoration company. Yoon was previously director of finance and accounting with Seastar Solutions, a leader in marine hydraulic systems and commercial heating systems.
Finance
Noah Shipman has joined the newly formed Vistara Capital Partners as senior associate. Prior to this appointment, Shipman advised technology and media companies as a principal at boutique investment bank Garibaldi Capital Advisors. Prior to Garibaldi, Shipman was in corporate development at Viterra Inc. and was an investment banker at Genuity Capital Markets.
Legal
Will Green has joined Hammerberg Lawyers LLP’s business law group, representing clients in a wide range of corporate and commercial legal matters, as well as real estate and strata property matters. Green assists business clients with mergers, acquisitions, contract negotiation and drafting, corporate restructuring, financing and due diligence.
Glen Krueger has joined Singleton Urquhart as an associate. Krueger was formerly an associate at an insurance litigation law firm in Toronto. His national legal practice centres on insurance litigation with a focus on insurance defence, and includes commercial liability, coverage issues, occupiers liability, fraudulent claims, short-term/long-term disability disputes, motor vehicle accidents and property damage claims.
Non-Profit
Kahir Lalji has been appointed provincial program manager of the seniors program Better at Home.
Better at Home helps seniors with simple day-to-day tasks so that they can continue to live independently in their own homes and remain connected to their communities. The Government of British Columbia funds the program, United Way of the Lower Mainland manages it and local non-profit organizations provide the services. Lalji has extensive experience in social services with a specialty in seniors’ issues. Prior to this appointment, Lalji was director of community programs at Kiwassa Neighbourhood House in East Vancouver.

The Real Estate Institute of BC recently elected its board of governors, consisting of new and returning members. Parc Retirement Living donated $11,000 to Edmonds Health Watch, a weekly health and wellness program for seniors 55 and over. Parc Retirement Living is the official sponsor of the program.
The Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset donated nearly $26,000 to Richmond Hospital Foundation to help purchase ceiling lifts for Richmond Lions Manor.
Ion Brand Design donated $25,000 worth of in-kind services to Vancouver’s Secret Lantern Society, which celebrates the annual winter solstice by illuminating the longest night of the year with lanterns. This donation will provide a new brand identity, logo, website and marketing materials for the non-profit organization ahead of its 2015 event to help it extend its offering into custom lanterns and rentals.
Hamber Foundation donated $1,500 to the Down Syndrome Research Foundation (DSRF). The funds will be used to implement LibraryWorld, a web-based library management system that will allow DSRF’s extensive collection of Down syndrome resources to be searched online and borrowed by users both local and remote.
Maple Ridge Hyundai donated $10,000 to Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation. Funds were raised through Operation 100, which ran during the month of May: $100 from every vehicle sold at Maple Ridge Hyundai was donated.
The Bright Futures Walkathon, sponsored by the BC Elks, raised $16,000 for programs and services at BC Family Hearing Resource Society for deaf and hard-of-hearing kids.
Finch Media donated $3,000 to Covenant House Vancouver.
RBC Foundation donated $20,000 to Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation. The funds will be used to purchase a transport defibrillator for the critical care unit at Langley Memorial Hospital.
Arc’teryx Equipment Inc. donated $20,000 to Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU), establishing the Arc’teryx Pursuit of Perfection Endowed Award to support local technical talent. The endowment will provide a $1,000 award every year in perpetuity for a third- or fourth-year Wilson School of Design student enrolled in KPU’s fashion design and technology program. •
