Achim Charisius, Melissa Sachs and Sarah Stanford have recently been promoted to associates in Perkins+Will’s Vancouver studio. Charisius is an architect with 14 years of international experience, Sachs leads the marketing team and has been with the firm since 2004, and Stanford, who leads the interior design team, has more than a decade of experience
Education
Robert Weston (New Westminster School District) has been elected president of the Simon Fraser University (SFU) Alumni Association. Angie Hall (HSBC) is vice-president and Jasmine Cumberland (Sony Pictures Imageworks Canada) is treasurer. Joining the board are Mark Bailey (Beam Suntory), Tiffany Ho (SFU), Laura Thomas (Best Buy Canada), Lana Van Velthuizen (Capilano University) and Claire Wilson (SFU).
Finance
Stephen Murphy was recently appointed executive vice-president, banking, at Canadian Western Bank. He will oversee business and personal banking, product development, marketing, equipment financing and corporate lending. Murphy brings with him extensive financial services and leadership expertise gained through his 20-year tenure at TD Bank Group. He most recently served as senior vice-president, business banking, for TD’s B.C. region where he was responsible for mid-market commercial banking.
Leanne Scott has returned to Leith Wheeler Investment Counsel Ltd. as vice-president in the firm’s private client and foundation practice. Scott, who originally joined the firm in 1994, has investment experience in Canada and abroad, including several years with a Canadian financial institution’s London office as a Eurobond dealer.

Rahul Aggarwal, vice-president of partner and business development, product marketing, Broadsoft Inc., has been appointed to Apivio Systems Inc.’s board of directors.
Jay Kreger has been appointed president of CRH anesthesia management, a newly created role at CRH Medical Corp.’s anesthesia services business. Kreger has been working in the healthcare field since 2005 and was most recently with Medical Care America, a division of Hospital Corp. of America.
John Antwi and Ian McMullan have been appointed senior vice-president of strategic development and director, mining and engineering, respectively, at Klondex Mines Ltd. Antwi most recently served as the regional director for business development for Newmont Mining Corp. McMullan also comes to Klondex from Newmont Mining Corp., where he most recently served as mine manager for three underground portal operations in Carlin, Nevada.
Lundin Gold Inc. recently elected its directors: James K. Cambon, Carmel Daniele, Ian W. Gibbs, Ashley Heppenstall, Ron F. Hochstein, Lukas H. Lundin, Paul McRae and Pablo J. Mir.
David Lenigas has been appointed an independent director at Macarthur Minerals Ltd. Lenigas, a mining engineer, has extensive experience in the lithium business, having recently retired as the executive chairman of Rare Earth Minerals plc.

Jill Sinclair has been appointed CEO at Keller Williams Black Diamond Realty. Sinclair will be working on developing the firm’s market in the greater Vancouver area; the company currently has three offices with another slated to open soon in the Vancouver area.
Sales/Marketing
Ian Baillie has been appointed senior account director, corporate and public affairs, at the Vancouver office of Citizen Relations. Baillie joins the team from the Canadian Wind Energy Association, where he acted as regional director for B.C. Previous roles have included executive director at the Alliance of Beverage Licensees and executive director at Vision Vancouver.
Technology
Joel Abramson has been appointed chief executive officer at Fully Managed, a Vancouver-based information technology (IT) company that provides industry leading IT strategy and support, private cloud and voice services across Canada. Abramson has 15 years of experience, and spent the last three years as vice-president of business development for Fully Managed.

CKNW Orphan’s Fund donated $11,250 to Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland to support the agency’s Go Girls! Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds program, a group mentoring program for girls aged 11 to 14 that encourages physical activity, healthy eating and the development of a positive self-image. The program is being offered in select Vancouver, Surrey, Coquitlam and Burnaby schools.
Coquitlam-based Children of the Street Society received two donations recently. The John Hardie Mitchell Family Foundation has donated $5,000 to support the society’s school-based prevention program aimed at stopping the sexual exploitation of B.C.’s young people. The Ladies Auxiliary of BC’s Fraternal Order of Eagles donated $1,100 to support the society’s prevention, intervention and support services that help protect young people from all forms of sexual exploitation. These funds came from contributions made by Ladies Auxiliaries located throughout B.C.
King’s Auto Lease recently celebrated its first anniversary by hosting a charity gala dinner at the Sea Harbour Restaurant at the River Rock Casino in Richmond. The charity gala raised $52,300 and was donated to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Yarilo Contemporary Music Society of Port Moody held its first year-end concert at Old Orchard Hall with proceeds of $1,150 donated to Crossroads Hospice. Music by Brahms and Rachmaninoff was performed by Anna Levy and Rosemary O’Connor on Fazioli pianos, which were loaned to the performance by Showcase Pianos.
G&F Financial Group Foundation donated a grant of $9,000 to the Down Syndrome Research Foundation, which will be used to purchase new laptops for the foundation’s adult education classroom. This investment will help young adults with Down syndrome prepare to enter the workforce through the development of their reading, communication, speech, math and computer skills. •
