Paul Stephens has joined North Vancouver-based Johnstone’s Benefits as managing director, leading Johnstone’s employee benefits consulting, third-party administration and business development. Stephens has more than 25 years in the group benefits industry and most recently served as director, insured group business, at Pacific Blue Cross.
Non-Profit
Amanda Burrows has joined the Museum of Vancouver as director of development, heading the museum’s fundraising efforts. Burrows has more than eight years of experience raising funds for arts organizations such as the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Guggenheim. Burrows recently served as associate director of annual giving for the Vancouver Opera.
Janel Derrick has joined SOS Children’s Village BC’s parent-driven autism services (PDAS) team as director of early intervention. PDAS specializes in treating children and youth aged six to 19, and the new early intervention program aims to fill the gap for the youngest kids. Derrick has been working with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder since 1999, and most recently spent the last several years co-ordinating a large autism service program in the Fraser Valley.

The Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia has appointed its 2016 executive committee. Diane Nicolson is chair; Kendra Johnston and Scott Weston have been appointed vice-chairs and are joined on the board by Gavin C. Dirom, Rick Conte, Glen Wonders, Robin Junger, Rob McLeod, James Gray and David McLelland.

Brent Harvey has been appointed vice-president of sales at QuickMobile. Harvey has more than 20 years of sales leadership experience at startups and large enterprise organizations. Prior to this appointment, Harvey was at Lambda Solutions and has also worked at Sophos, Precise Software (acquired by Symantec) and Crystal Decisions (acquired by SAP).
Transportation
Lee Hammond has joined Western Canada Marine Response Corp. (WCMRC) as director of operations. Hammond retired as a colonel from the Canadian Forces in 2015. Prior to joining WCMRC, he was director of strategic readiness on the Strategic Joint Staff. Hammond has served in Afghanistan and Iraq and commanded light, airborne and mechanized units in the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery. In his new role, he is responsible for the day-to-day readiness of WCMRC to fulfil its spill response mission.
Anthony J. Andrukaitis and Neil Gambow have been appointed chief operating officer and managing director of corporate development, respectively, at Surrey-based Kelso Technologies Inc. Andrukaitis has more than 25 years of senior management experience in the railroad sector and has held positions such as chief operations officer of TrinityRail, president of Trinity Tank Car Inc. and president and CEO of GATX Terminals Corp. Gambow has more than 35 years in the railway industry and remains an active executive manager of the company and a key adviser to both the CEO and COO.

Paladin Security donated $3,000 to the CKNW Orphans’ Fund’s Pink Shirt Day campaign in support of anti-bullying programs.
National Bank’s One for Youth program has selected the winners across Canada that will share in $1 million to launch youth initiatives. Close to 30,000 young people will benefit across Canada, including more than 2,100 in B.C. Winning programs in B.C. are Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC, Canadian Parents for French BC and Yukon Branch, Groundswell, Junior Achievement of British Columbia, PeerNetBC and Reel Youth (Vancouver); Athletics for Kids (North Vancouver); Richmond Orchestra and Chorus Association and Chimo Community Services (Richmond); and Strawberry Hill Elementary (Surrey).
Pitt Meadow Plumbing donated $15,000 to Prostate Cancer Canada through donations and employee participation in Prostate Cancer Canada’s recent Step Up for Dad event. The event raised a total of $125,000, with all proceeds going toward a new prostate research centre in Vancouver.
The Crystal Gala Foundation donated $250,000 to Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation, half of the $500,000 total that Crystal Gala Foundation has pledged towards the new breast health centre at Abbotsford Regional Hospital.
Township 7 Vineyards & Winery has partnered with Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon (RMH BC) this year. The Langley-based winery has pledged that RMH BC will be the sole charitable beneficiary of its numerous fundraising events throughout the year, including the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Father’s Day Wine & Swine and Grape Stomp. For RMH BC, Township 7 is its first wine partner, with the winery assisting at select RMH BC fundraising events in 2016 including golf tournaments and a gala dinner. •
